Michael Fitzgerald interview with 2025 AACTA (Australian Academy Cinema & Television Arts) Award Winner Danielle Stamoulos.

My acting experience has spanned 15+ years working in the Australian Film, TV & Theatre industry. Recently, I created, wrote & lead acted in - GORGO - is the WINNER of the 2025 AACTA AWARD BEST AUSTRALIAN SHORT FILM and now streams on SBS On Demand Network in Australia. It has screened at various national & international festivals worldwide, nominated across multiple Australian film festivals, taking home awards at Flickerfest 2024, and Stellar Shorts Film Festival 2025. The film also enjoyed international success at festivals in the US and Europe, including a North American premiere at Santa Barbara International Film Festival and selected by The French Academy (César) to screen at Les Nuits En Or 2025, across 8 countries (40 screenings) globally. I’m so thrilled too that I won the 2025 BEST PERFORMANCE AWARD for Gorgo at Australia’s invite-only short festival Stellar Film Festival, showcasing Australia’s best of the best short films.

Other acting credits include play LADYBIRD LADYBIRD  by Linda Nicholls-Gidley at Flightpath Theatre (NSW), SBS’ WHILE THE MEN ARE AWAY, LOVE CHILD S4 (Channel 9 Australia), internationally award-winning murder comedy web series SYDNEY SLEUTHERS (WINNER Best Ensemble Cast Comedy 2019 Asia Web Awards, WINNER/2019 NYC Web Fest Film), short doco film SHADING (Diversity Arts Australia), TO BE HONEST (Bankstown Arts Centre), EI8HT at 2015 Sydney Fringe Festival and THE CANTERBURY TALES (The New Theatre) directed by Constantine and Michael Costi & James Vaughan. I also founded theatre company EDGEWARE FORUM, where we received a BEST ENSEMBLE CAST 2016 Sydney Theatre Award nomination for Patricia Cornelius' play SLUT.

I am an acting graduate of the Actors Centre Australia (ACA - with a Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts Acting), and have trained with teachers and coaches from Impulse Company Australia (Scott Williams), Kate Skinner, Niki Flacks, Joan Scheckel, Miranda Harcourt, Ben Mathews, Les Chantery, Anthony Meindl, Jeneffa Soldatic, Barbara Robertson (Alexander Technique) and dialect coaches Linda Nicholls-Gidley and Anna-Mcrossin Owen.
